June Meeting & 'Milk shakes in the Stix' Mystery Cruise
The sky was clear when we arrived for lunch but rain showers greeted us as we exited the restaurant to being our cruise. During the lunch meeting plans for the June 21st show were discussed as well as introducing several new members in attendance. After lunch we drove to Brasstown Bald and parked in the area to be designated the 'show car parking area'. We began to discuss some changes from previous years when rain showers forced us into our Corvettes. We then began our mystery cruise on Hwy 180 to Hwy 75S to Hwy 356 to Hwy 197 where we turned south and drove to the Bateman General Store for milk shakes and ice cream. Once again -- surprise! After dealing with rain at the restaurant and then again at Brasstown Bald, the waitress told us the freezer had failed the night before and the ice cream had melted. We began to access our situtation when the owner came over to explain that they could serve but the ice cream would be soft. No problem! We ordered from what was available and then enjoyed our milk shakes and ice cream. New members Dan and Ruth King (Toccoa) joined us at the Bateman General Store. After some good socializing at the store members began to disperse and make their way to other places. The remaining Corvettes cruised north on Hwy 197 to Hwy 76 and back to Blairsville, GA.
