5th Annual ‘Tail of the Dragon’ & ‘Cherohala Skyway’ Picnic Cruise
Cruise Route
Starting at Brother's Restaurant on Hwy 64 in Murphy, NC -- we traveled Hwy 64E to Hwy 129/74N to Topton, NC -- turned left on Hwy 129N to Robbinsville, NC and then to Deal's Gap for a short stop at the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort -- the next section of Hwy 129N was the 'Tail of the Dragon' -- we turned left onto Hwy 72W before heading south on Hwy 411 where we stopped at a BP Station at the intersection of Hwy's 411 & 360S -- after a short stop at the BP station we traveled Hwy 360S to Tellico Plains, TN and headed east on Hwy 165 which is the Tennessee section of the Cherohala Skyway -- we traveled about 16 miles on the Skyway before turning off and visiting the Indian Boundary Campground for our picnic -- after our picnic we returned to the Cherohala Skyway and traveled the North Carolina section (Hwy 143) back to Robbinsville and then on to Murphy and finished the cruise.

Participation was great again this year with 40+ Corvette owner for breakfast and 23 Corvettes in the parking lot. After a wonderful breakfast and socializing we departed the Brother's Restaurant around 10:45 AM with 21 Corvettes participating in the cruise. The weather was great and the leaf fcolor was more brilliant than we had expected. We did get to see lots of folliage (usually gone in November) with an array of fall colors that would please anyone driving through the beautiful mountains. Allen Evans, along with another Corvette, visited with us from Augusta, GA and spent the day taking part in our full-day activities. We want to thank Allen and our other visitors for helping us make it a memorable day.
