Mar. 8th (Note: The breakfast meeting location has been changed to Cook's Country Kitchen in Blairsville, GA.)
Breakfast & Cruise to the Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, GA to take part in their CAR Show & Swap Meet. We will meet at Cook's County Kitchen at 8:30 AM for breakfast and leave no later than 9:30 AM for a 1-1/2 hour cruise to Jefferson, GA. Their Show & Swap Meet is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You can stay for the racing if you wish or take your own route home. http://www.peachstspeedway.com/ Contact Gene @ CGBRM@Alltel.net and identify if you plan to join the cruise from Blairsville or meet us at the raceway. The World Famous Blairsville Restaurant has been sold and its closed for renovation with no projected opening date. Cook's Country Kitchen serves from the menu only and the prices are very resonable. Apr. 12th CHANGE in today’s plan: I have not been able to get a confirmation on our original cruise for April 12th so we will have a change. There WILL NOT be a regular meeting and cruise on April 12th -- we have been invited to participate in a fundraising event to benefit Autism Speaks. There will not be any organized cruises to get to this event so you are on-your-own to participate -- and we hope that many of you choose to attend this event. Don't Bet Your Vette! POKER RUN to Benefit Autism Speaks - Sponsored by Classic Glass Corvettes. Meet at 10:00 AM at McDonald's on Riverstone Parkway -- Canton (Exit 20 off I-575). Speed is not a factor in this event so everyone can advance at their own pace. This event does not have an entry fee but organizers are requesting donations of $5, $10, or whatever! http://www.autismspeaks.org/ Download Flyer
May 17th (Note: The Corvette Tech session has been rescheduled from May 10th to Saturday, May 17th.)
Corvette Tech Session at John Megel Chevrolet in Dawsonville - followed by a Cruise. Members of the CGBRM have been invited to participate in a Corvette Tech session at John Megel Chevrolet to be followed by a cruise. Mike Simpson (CGBRM member) is the parts manager for John Megel Chevrolet and we want to thank him for arranging this event. This is the second year for the tech session and it's a great way for you to learn more detailed maintenance and car care information about your Corvette. Details of the tech session, with directions, will be posted soon. http://www.megelchevy.com/
June 14th Lunch -- Visit To Brasstown Bald -- 'Milk Shake in the Stix' Mystery Cruise: This will be a regular lunch meeting at 11:00 AM at Steve's Steak House in Blairsville. We will meet in the parking lot at 12:15 PM to prepare to leave at 12:30PM. From the parking lot we will cruise directly to the Brasstown Bald Visitors Center parking lot for an on-site review of the final setup plans for the show ($3 Federal park's parking fee). Around 1:45PM we will leave for a 'Milk Shakes in the Stix' Mystery Cruise. We should be back in Blairsville no-later-than 4:00 PM.
July 12th Lunch at 11:00 AM at Steve's Steak House followed by a cruise through east Tennessee and western North Carolina. We haven't had a good, long cruise in our Corvettes in several months and I would like to propose a 4-1/2 hour cruise for our July 12th meeting. We will select this Tellico Plains/Cherohala Skyway cruise if we can get six or more Corvettes committed to the cruise. A second alternative will be to take a shorter cruise locally and we can discuss our options during lunch. If we select the Cherohala Skyway route we will assemble in the parking lot at 11:45 AM to leave at Noon to begin the cruise. Fuel your Corvettes before lunch but we can make a pit-stop along the way if necessary. We should arrive back in Blairsville before 5:00 PM depending on stops.
Aug. 9th Lunch at 11:oo AM at Steve's Steak House followed by a cruise. We will assemble in the parking lot at noon to begin the cruise at 12:15 PM. From Blairsville we will cruise to Fort Mountain Park in Chatsworth, GA -- then travel north on Hwy 411 to Tennessee --travel east on Hwy 74 adjacent to the Ocoee River -- then turn south on Hwy 68 back through McCayesville, GA to Hwy 515 just east of Blue Ridge, GA. -- then back to Blairsville. The cruise will last about 4.5 hours (including stops) with an estimated driving distance of 150 miles. Planned stops are: 1) Fort Mountain State Park http://www.gastateparks.org/info/fortmt/ , 2) Ocoee Whitewater Center http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/ocoee/index.shtml , and 3) if time is available we can take Hwy 5 south from McCayesville and stop at the Mercier Orchards store http://www.mercier-orchards.com/ . Sept. 13th This will be an all-day cruise to Chattanooga, TN to visit with members of the Mountain City Corvette Association. I am communicating with MCCA’s events coordinator to plan a joint cruise, lunch, and site-seeing tour of the Chattanooga area. The basic plan is for CGBRM members to meet for breakfast at 8:00 AM in Blairsville to depart for Chattanooga, TN around 9:00 AM. We will meet-up with the MCCA Corvettes around 10:30 to 11:00 AM somewhere around Cleveland or Chattanooga to spend the afternoon with them and then begin our return trip around 4:00 PM. We should arrive back in Blairsville around 5:30 to 6:00 PM. We WILL NOT schedule this cruse unless we have 12 or more CGBRM Corvettes committed to attend this cruise because it takes too much planning for only a few Corvettes to participate. MCCA has a big show and drag event scheduled for the following weekend. Please send an Email message to CGBRM@alltel.net if you want to commit to attending this cruise.
Oct. 11th Lunch & the 3rd Annual Fall Leaf Color Cruise. A new route will be selected each year -- more details will be posted prior to the event date.
