2008 Car Shows & Special Events

 

Note 1:      SIGN UP HERE - connects via Email to the Events Coordinator to express your interest in attending an event. Specify the event by name, the number of Corvettes and people wishing to participate. This is for planning purposes only and does not register you for the event. If enough members are interested in attending a specific event -- a caravan will be scheduled and the appropriate members contacted.

Note 2:      REGISTRATION – forwards to a page for downloading a pre-registration form. This is routinely used for ENTRY FEE events.

 

March 28th & 29th: Corvette Expo in the Smokies at the new Sevierville Events Center in Sevierville, TN.  There will be an auction, show, cruise, and indoor/outdoor swap meet.        http://www.corvetteexpo.com      Contact Gene at CGBRM@alltel.net if you plan to attend this show.

 

Apr. 19th: 3rd Annual Classic Car Show sponsored by the Stephens Federal Bank will be held at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds.  The entry fee is $10 per car and all proceeds benefit RELAY FOR LIFE. There will be fun, food, prizes, and much more. For more information contact Annette Brown or Kim Bailey at Stephens Federal Bank at 706-896-8853. In addition to the car show, their will be live entertainment in the Music Hall starting at 6:30 PM for a donation of $5 per person - this also goes to the Relay for Life. We will meet at 10:45 AM Saturday morning in the parking lot next to the Young Harris Branch of the Bank of Hiawasse so that we can leave at 11:00 AM to caravan to the show and park together.   REGISTRATION FORM   EVENT PICTURES

 

May 10th: Chevy's of the South - All Chevy Show presented by Lanier Corvettes Unlimited. Show location: Bill Heard Chevrolet, 4490 South Lee Street, Buford, Georgia. All year Chevy’s welcome. May 24th & 25th:    4th Annual "Vettes in the Valley" Corvette Show to be held in Maggie Valley, NC. May in Maggie Valley, the middle of the Smoky Mountains, is a beautiful place to be.  Last year over 300 Corvettes attended the show from 16 different states. The show is a NCCC non-points sanctioned event with judging and "Peoples Choice" trophies and plaques in all categories - C-1 through C-6.The Poker Run,  Ladies "Shop Til You Drop" Poker Walk, Corvette Parade, Opening "Meet and Greet", Door prizes, raffles, entertainment, Waynesville Block Party, vendors and gorgeous scenery  will all be here for your enjoyment. This year "Fast Vette" is doing a "Corvette Wear " fashion show.  They will need men and women models, so if you are interested, let me know. 2008 is the Bi-Centennial year for Haywood County (here) and they are planning lots of events.  Saturday evening, May 24, 2008 is the big Street Dance/ Outdoor Party and they will have special areas for "CORVETTE PARKING ONLY".  Also, on Monday, Memorial Day there will be a big parade featuring military units as well as local units and a "Fly Over".   Please go to the web site at www.smokyevents.com to see pictures of the 2007 show.  We had cars from  Texas, Kansas, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Virginia, Georgia, North and South Carolina attend. June 21st: 4th Annual ‘TOP OF GEORGIA’ All Corvette Show at Brasstown Bald  (Georgia’s highest point). Registration will be from 10:00 AM to noon with show hours from noon to 4:00 PM. All proceeds will be donated to S.A.F.E., the National Corvette Museum, and the Brasstown Bald Visitor’s Center. Pre-registration and awards information will be posted in April 2008. Door prizes, goody bags & dash plaques to the first 75 cars registered, 50/50 drawing, trophies, cash drawings from pre-registered entries, food concessions, DJ w/music, and silent auction. Aug. 16th: MTI Racing's Dyno Day and Open House - 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. CGBRM member's will meet at the McDonald's in Blairsville at 7:30 AM for a quick biscuit and coffee to leave at 8:00 AM to cruise to Marietta. Our departure time from MTI Racing will depend on any service scheduled by our cruising members. Please review the attached document for details.DOWNLOAD FLYER

Sept. 20th: Clayton Advance Charity Car Show (sponsored by Advance Auto Parts) to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Clayton, GA. There are pictures from last years show up on website www.aapcarshow.com . For more information contact Jeff Southard at aapcarshow@yahoo.com

 

Oct. 11th: 3rd Annual Lunch & Leaf Color Cruise: A new route will be selected each year. More information will be posted at a later date.

 

Nov. 8th:  6th Annual Dragon & Cherohala Skyway Cruise & Picnic’: This ‘Cruise the Loop’ event will start with breakfast at 9:30 AM at the Brother's Restaurant in Murphy, NC. The group price for the buffet breakfast w/drink and gratuity is $9. (Directions & info @ www.brothersrestaurantinmurphy.com ) We will leave the restaurant at 10:45 AM and cruise Hwy 129 north to Topton and then Robbinsville before a short stop at the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort --then travel Hwy 129N through THE DRAGON -- then leave Hwy 129N on a scenic shortcut to Hwy 411S - then a pit-stop at the BP station at the junction of Hwy 411S and Hwy 360 --- then travel to Tellico Plains, TN where we start the Tennessee section of the Cherohala Skyway -- we will picnic at a state park (Indian Boundary Campground) about a mile off the Skyway -- after the picnic we will travel the Skyway back to Robbinsville, NC and then back to Murphy, NC where the cruise will end and everyone go on their way.  http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps/dragonloop.gif    http://tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html  http://www.dealsgap.com   We will travel at the posted speed limit. Cars should be fueled and ready to cruise when we leave after breakfast.
